The BAL X-Chock expands between the tires on a tandem-axle trailer to reduce the fore-and-aft tire movement that can make a parked RV feel unsettled. It is a stabilizer, not a substitute for parking chocks, leveling blocks, stabilizer jacks, or the tow vehicle’s parking procedure.

Quick verdict

Useful when a compatible tandem-axle trailer still moves after it is safely parked, leveled, chocked, and stabilized. It is not suitable when tire spacing falls outside the model range or when an owner expects it to hold the trailer on a slope.

Who this fits best

  • Tandem-axle travel trailers with measured clearance between tires
  • Owners trying to reduce interior movement after normal campsite setup
  • Campers who want a lockable stabilizer stored separately from potable-water gear

Pre-purchase checklist

  • Measure the narrowest distance between adjacent tires when loaded for travel.
  • Confirm the standard or extended X-Chock range before ordering.
  • Set parking chocks and level the trailer before installing the X-Chock.
  • Remove both X-Chocks before moving the trailer and add them to the departure checklist.

What it can—and cannot—do

BAL describes the standard X-Chock as retracting to about 1 3/8 inches and expanding to roughly 10 inches. It braces between neighboring tires to resist movement. It does not lift the RV, level side to side, carry vehicle weight, or replace chocks placed at the ground.

Fit depends on real tire spacing

Tire spacing can change with load, suspension position, tire size, and uneven ground. Measure both sides at the campsite and leave room to position and tighten the device without contacting sidewalls incorrectly. Closely spaced tires may fit the standard model; wider spacing may require the extended version.

Safe setup and travel habits

Install only after the trailer is parked according to its manuals. Tighten according to BAL instructions rather than forcing maximum pressure against the tires. A lock can discourage casual removal, but it does not secure the trailer by itself. Remove, inspect, and stow the units before hitching or pulling away.

Bottom line

Useful when a compatible tandem-axle trailer still moves after it is safely parked, leveled, chocked, and stabilized. It is not suitable when tire spacing falls outside the model range or when an owner expects it to hold the trailer on a slope. Verify the exact model, current specifications, and compatibility before ordering, because manufacturers and marketplace listings can change.
